The Future of Education

Hey, let me talk about something that's really bugging me - what's happening with Black kids' education right now. It's actually wild when you think about it.

Like, we're in 2025 and we're STILL having to fight for our history to be taught in schools? For real? That's messed up. Our stories matter, and trying to erase them from textbooks isn't just disrespectful - it's straight-up wrong.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. My little cousins are in elementary school, and I want them to grow up learning about ALL of our history. Not just the safe, comfortable parts, but everything - the good and the bad. How are we supposed to understand who we are if we don't know where we came from?

Fr fr, we need:

  • Teachers who actually understand our experiences and can relate to us

  • Books and materials that show people who look like us doing amazing things

  • Schools in our neighborhoods to get the same funding and resources as everywhere else

  • A safe space where we can be ourselves without feeling like we're being judged

It's crazy that some people are trying to act like learning about Black history is somehow a bad thing. Like, how? Our history IS American history. Period. And tbh, it's not just about Black students - EVERYONE needs to learn this stuff if we want things to actually change.

And before anyone comes at me saying "why does race matter?" - it matters because we're still dealing with this in 2025! We shouldn't have to keep fighting for basic respect in our education system, but here we are.

To all my people still in school - stay strong, keep learning your history (even if they don't teach it in class), and don't let anyone make you feel like your story isn't important. Because it is. And we're not about to let anyone erase that. 💯

What do y'all think? How are things at your schools? Let me know if you're dealing with similar stuff.
